Thanks to a very generous donation from Scotiabank, clients from the Association for New Canadians were given the opportunity to attend a NHL pre-season game between the Ottawa Senators and the New York Islanders on Monday, September 22, at the Mile One Centre in downtwon St. John's. The Atlantic Lottery Corporation partnered with the Association for New Canadians to participate in the United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador's Day of Caring on Friday, September 19, 2014. The Atlantic Lottery Team cleaned up the grounds of the ANC's ESL Training Centre, including laying new sod on the Centre's lawn. Students and staff of the Association for New Canadians' New Canadians' ESL Training Centre attended the Tombolo Multiculturalism Festival in Ferryland on August 23, 2014. They enjoyed a tour of Ferryland and had the opportunity to participate in the Multicultural Variety Concert, where the New Canadian Voices Choir performed for the crowd in attendance. The Association for New Canadians' Summer Program for Children held its Closing Ceremony on Thursday, August 21, at Bishop Abraham Elementary in St. John's. Those in attendance were treated to a number of performances by program participants, including presentations on summer field trip activities, dance routines, and a slideshow! The Association for New Canadians' Summer Enrichment Program for Refugee and Immigrant Youth held its Closing Ceremony on Thursday, July 24th. Youth had the opportunity to speak about the activities and outings they participated in throughout the duration of the program, including a visit to Salmonier Nature Park, the Confederation Building, the Fluvarium, the Town of Brigus, and Bowring Park. The event also featured dance performances by participating youth, as well as a prize giveaway that included 5 bikes donated by the Read to Ride Program! On June 22nd, the Association for New Canadian’s organized a Women’s Group outing to Middle Cove Beach. 28 participants learned how to make s’mores, enjoyed the beautiful weather, dipped their toes in the Atlantic Ocean, and even got to kiss a cod! THE ASSOCIATION FOR NEW CANADIANS' MULTICULTURAL FAMILY SPORTS DAY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY, JULY 4, 2014, FROM 10:00AM TO 2:00PM AT WISHINGWELL PARK IN ST. JOHN'S.
The Association for New Canadians will be hosting its second annual Multicultural Family Sports Day in honour of Canadian Multiculturalism Week 2014. Activities will include a variety of family-oriented games and sports, as well as a lunchtime bbq.

On Thursday, June 26th, twelve women came together for the monthly Women’s Group session. Participants designed and created glass lanterns for the Victoria Park Lantern Festival, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 26th. The Read to Ride Program hosted a ceremony at the Association for New Canadians' ESL Training Centre on Thursday, June 27. A student from each level at the ESL Training Centre was awarded a bicycle and helmet for their reading achievements, and there were prize draws for those in attendance. A big thanks to David D'Entremont and everyone at Read to Ride who helped facilitate this event
