Kick off with CBC this summer with the CBC WORLD CUP SOCCER WEEKEND taking place July 26-28 at the King George V Park on Carnell Drive (St. John's Soccer Club).
Come out and support our youth in the community and celebrate a great weekend of soccer, fun in the field, and so much more. CBC will be there, and we've got an exciting schedule of events and activities planned.
Free admission and parking. Parking available at the Dominion on Lake Avenue.

Representatives from the Read to Ride Program hosted a ceremony at the Association for New Canadians' ESL Training Centre on Thursday, July 11. A student from each class at the ESL Training Centre was awarded a bicycle and helmet for their reading achievements, and there were prize draws for those in attendance. Clients and staff of the Association for New Canadians celebrated Canada's birthday on 1 July 2013. Those in attendance participated in a Canadian-themed scavenger hunt, a picnic, and a cake cutting ceremony before proceeding to the celebration on Confederation Hill in St. John's. The Association for New Canadians, through funding provided by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, will be hosting its inaugural Multicultural Family Sports Day on June 27th, 2013 at Wishingwell Field West in St. John's, from 10am until 2pm.
Coinciding with Canadian Multiculturalism Day, the event will bring together immigrant, refugee and local individuals and families from around the city to participate in a day-long intercultural awareness event focused on family games and sports.

The Association for New Canadians hosted a Soup Kitchen Fundraiser at its ESL Training Centre in St. John’s to raise funds for the UNHCR’s humanitarian appeal to address the current crisis in Syria. On 20 June 2013, clients and staff prepared soup for sale to students, staff, and guests of the Association with all proceeds being sent to the UNHCR to assist in their effort to provide protection and other forms of relief aid to vulnerable Syrian refugees. On 16 May 2013, the Association for New Canadians hosted a Citizenship Ceremony at its ESL Training Center in St. John's. His Honour The Honourable Frank F. Fagan, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Her Honour, Mary Fagan, participated in the ceremony and had the opportunity to meet with a number of individuals as they took their final step in becoming Canadian citizens. The Association for New Canadians hosted a Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) stakeholder session on 12 March 2013. Facilitated by Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Harris Centre, the session explored the interest in creating a LIP in St. John's.
Local Immigration Partnerships (or LIPs) are an inclusive way to coordinate all the services that new immigrants are likely to need. LIPs are coalitions at the regional, municipal, or neighbourhood level designed to improve the integration of newcomers, as well as to strengthen a community's ability to attract newcomers.
