Seeking Donations for Summer Programming
July 02, 2017
The Association for New Canadians is seeking donations to support delivery of summer programming for refugee and immigrant children and youth. For more information or to make a contribution, please contact Jon at (709) 579-9172 or firstname.lastname@example.org
We are seeking donations for the following programs:
The Summer English as a Secondary Language (ESL) Program for Children
The ANC’s Summer ESL Program for Children is an eight-week educational and recreational program designed primarily for children of immigrant and refugee parents attending the ESL Training Centre. This program runs for the duration of the summer allowing parents to continue with their language training while their children are on summer break. The Summer Program Team facilitates various activities in order to provide newcomer children with an environment to develop social and language skills in an informal setting. Field trips and community outings are also facilitated daily to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle amongst newcomer children.
The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for Newcomer Youth
The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) offers the opportunity for high-need newcomer youth to avail of summer programming that will reinforce the knowledge acquired through the school year, while also assisting them to prepare for the upcoming school year. The SEP focuses on both academic and community integration and provides a unique opportunity for immigrant/refugee youth to maintain and extend the literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for their academic and social success.
