Volunteer Recruitment

The Association for New Canadians has developed a standard volunteer screening process in order to ensure that individuals are linked with the most suitable program. This is in the best interests of our clients, students, staff, volunteers themselves, and the community. The screening process has been devised from the guidelines set out by the National Education Campaign on Screening Volunteers and Employees in Positions of Trust with Children and other Vulnerable Clients.

Our screening process includes the following:

  • An application form - which can be downloaded here;
  • Three character references;
  • Certificate of Conduct from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (A letter will be provided to waive the cost associated with this request);
  • An informal interview to discuss interests and needs; and,
  • A Volunteer Orientation/Training Session.
