Employment Readiness Centre Programs
Are you new to Canada, specifically Newfoundland and Labrador? Navigating a new country can be daunting, especially when it comes to finding employment. That’s where we come in! ANC offers an array of programs designed to prepare you for the Canadian workplace.
Among others, we offer access to computers, printing and copying services, as well as assistance with completing Canadian professional certifications, interview skills practice, and guided job search to help you secure employment opportunities effectively.

WORKING IN CANADA
In this session, we delve into labour standards, occupational and health and safety and workplace expectations to help you better understand what you will experience when working in Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador.
INTERVIEW SKILLS
Job interviews can be nerve-wracking, but with our guidance, you’ll be well-prepared to succeed. We cover both general and professional questions commonly asked in Canadian job interviews, equipping you with the tools you need to confidently navigate this crucial stage.
MY FIRST DAY AT WORK
Your first day at work can be both exciting and dunting. In this session, we offer information such as understanding workplace culture, interacting with your supervisor, following safety regulations, performing your job duties, and even understanding your first paycheque. Our team will prepare you for every step of your initial work experience.
CANADIAN CERTIFICATES
Completing Canadian certificates can significantly enhance your employability. At our Employment Readiness Centre, we offer certifications including WHMIS, Food Safety, Teamwork, and more – all at no cost to you. These certifications will enhance your skills and demonstrate your commitment to safety and professionalism in the workplace.
Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate or participation you can include on your resume!

Occupation-Specific Language Training
Effective communication is crucial in the workplace, and mastering the English language can significantly enhance your ability to interact with employers, colleagues, and clients. Our Employment Readiness Centre offers language training to help develop your English language proficiency. Our expert instructors are here to support your language development for the workplace every step of the way. Through targeted exercises and practical scenarios, you’ll learn how to confidently express yourself in various workplace situations.
Employment Conversation Club
Join our Employment Conversation Club to further enhance your communication skills in a supportive and interactive environment. This club provides a platform for practicing English language skills relevant to job interviews and workplace interactions. Boost your confidence, master workplace conversations, and gain valuable insights into effective communication strategies. Through role-plays and discussions focused on workplace communication, it offers a supportive environment to practice English skills specific to job interviews and workplace interactions.
Introducing our Workplace Language Coaches
At the Employment Readiness Centre, we understand that transitioning into a new workplace can be challenging, especially when navigating a new language. That’s why we offer dedicated Workplace Language Coaches to support both you and the employer in the early stages of your employment journey.
What we offer:
In collaboration with the employer, we offer support for your onboarding, understanding operational manuals, safety orientation and other language you will need to communicate effectively in the workplace. Our coaches offer language learning opportunities, both at the work site and in the ERC, to improve your proficiency and confidence, ensuring you can effectively communicate with colleagues and supervisors and work safely.

Employer Engagement Services
ANC Employment Services offers customized recruitment services, connecting employers in Newfoundland and Labrador with a rich pool of diverse and skilled newcomer talent. We offer free-of-charge tailored services:
Candidate Pre-screening – We pre-screen candidates to align with your specific business requirements, ensuring an ideal match.
Connecting to Diverse Talent in Multiple Sectors – We provide employers with access to a diverse talent pool across multiple professions and key sectors, including engineering, finance, human resources, information technology, sales and marketing and logistics. We also support labour market attachment in the trades, hospitality, food service and retail, agriculture/farming and construction (including carpenters, welders, and electricians).
Job Fairs and Recruitment Events – We host events that allow employers to directly connect with potential hires, facilitating a more personal and effective recruitment process.
Job Posting Promotion: We promote your job postings, attracting a diverse and qualified candidate pool.
Ongoing Onboarding and Job Maintenance Support – Providing assistance beyond hiring, with strategies to maintain and support a qualified workforce and improve retention.
Language Coaching Services -we offer language support for your new employees. For example, onboarding programs, understanding operational manuals, safety orientation and other language skills employees may require to be safe and effective in the workplace. Our coaches offer language learning opportunities, both at the work site and our Employment Readiness Centre.
